Hello all,
Today there was a system wide conference call of all the Business Agents and Chief Stewards from across the system.
The OSV 20% grievance was discussed. There are two more hearing dates scheduled and they are October 23 and 24th. The feeling was that this would be enough time to conclude the Unions position.
Also discussed was the testing issue. Bob Luciano impressed upon the call that this was a major issue that needed resolution prior to this falls layoffs. Every other station was in agreement that this needed to be resolved.
The Panasonic grievance is moving forward, as well as the "me too" grievance regarding flight passes. The "me too" grievance is in regards to AFA language that provides limited passes for employees that resign after a certain amount of service time. I think it is 20 years but that may not be accurate.
There will be a meeting on Thursday in Chicago with the leaders of the IBT and UAL to discuss upcoming issues, including possible buyout packages.
An e-mail tree is being developed for all Business Agents and Chief Stewards to allow for quicker notifications when issues occur.
San Fransisco has a new website up and running. It is www.teamsterssfo.com .
With all the information being discussed we ran out of time on the call. Rob Steward from BWI brought forth a good idea regarding health insurance which I will discuss on the next call on July 30th.
The long term disability is also being looked at. When there is more information I will pass it on.
Bob
